What this service is:
This is a free community service to help Muslims fulfil their religious duty of writing an Islamic Will (Wasiyya) in accordance with Shia Ithna-Asheri principles. It is a religious document first. The document we generate also contains all the key elements that — if you choose to have it properly signed and witnessed — can serve as a legal will. That choice is entirely yours.
📄 More than just a form — a complete checklist for your family The questions in this form are not simply there to be filled in online. They are carefully designed to remind the testator of almost every requirement that would otherwise cause difficulty and distress for the family after their passing — from bank accounts and passwords to religious obligations and physical keys.

By working through each section, you ensure your inheritors will not need to search for passwords, PIN hints, safe combinations, locker keys, bank details, or any other information. Everything is in one place, in your own words.

At the same time, by completing this will you fulfil your Islamic religious obligation of writing a Wasiyya — one of the most important duties a Muslim can perform for their family and their faith.

You do not need to fill every section online. Simply submit what you know now and you will receive a Word document. You can then open and complete the remaining sections directly in the document at your own pace, in your own time, and update it whenever your circumstances change.

1. About This Service

The Islamic Will Generator (“the Service”) is provided free of charge by ShiaJamaat.com to assist members of the Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim community in fulfilling the Islamic obligation of writing a Wasiyya.

At its heart, this is a religious service. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) emphasised the importance of the Wasiyya, and this tool exists to make it easy for every Muslim — particularly our senior community — to fulfil that duty.

By using this Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Religious Will — Not Legal Advice

This Service generates an Islamic Wasiyya (religious will) based on Shia Ithna-Asheri principles. ShiaJamaat.com is not a law firm, and the document is not prepared by a solicitor.

The document does, however, contain all the main elements of a conventional will — such as executor appointment, asset distribution, debts, and witnesses — and can therefore also function as a legal will if you choose to have it properly signed and witnessed. Whether you pursue the legal aspects is entirely your own decision.

If your estate is complex — for example, if you have property abroad, a business, or unusual family arrangements — we recommend consulting a qualified solicitor and a Shia Ithna-Asheri Alim in addition to using this tool.

3. Your Responsibilities

By using this Service, you confirm that:

  • You are 18 years of age or over
  • You are of sound mind and making this will freely and voluntarily, without any pressure
  • You will save the Word document you receive — we do not store any copies on our servers

4. No Warranty and Limitation of Liability

This Service is provided “as is” and free of charge. ShiaJamaat.com does not guarantee that:

  • The Service will be available at all times or free from errors
  • The generated document will suit every individual's specific circumstances
  • Emails will always be delivered to your inbox

ShiaJamaat.com accepts no liability for any loss or consequence arising from the use of this Service. You use it entirely at your own risk.

5. Accuracy — Your Document Is Yours to Modify

The will document is generated automatically based on what you enter. ShiaJamaat.com does not review or verify the information you provide.

Please read through your completed document carefully when you receive it. If anything appears incorrect, is missing, or does not reflect your wishes, you can open and modify the Word document you received directly in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or any word processor. The document is fully editable and is yours to adjust as you see fit.

6. Why We Send a Word Document

📄 Purpose of the Word document:
We deliberately send your will as an editable Word document so that you, the testator, can make changes to your final will at any time. Your circumstances change — you may acquire new assets, have more children, or simply wish to update your instructions. With a Word document, you are never locked in. Open it, make your changes, print and re-sign it, and it becomes your updated will.

You also do not need to complete every section online. If you are unsure about something — a password, an account number, a guardian's address — simply leave that field blank and submit. You will receive the Word document with the rest of your information filled in. Open it in any word processor (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice), fill in the remaining details at your own pace, and save it.

The form questions exist to prompt and remind you of the things that matter most to your family after your passing. The Word document is where your final, personalised will lives. It belongs entirely to you from the moment it arrives in your inbox.

7. Email Delivery

Your completed will is emailed to the address you provide. ShiaJamaat.com cannot guarantee delivery to all email providers, and emails may occasionally be filtered into a spam or junk folder.

Please check your spam/junk folder if the email does not arrive within 10 minutes, and save the attachment immediately upon receipt. We do not retain any copies of your document — the email is the only copy.

8. Privacy and Data

We do not store any personal information you enter into this form. Please read our Privacy Policy for full details.

9. The Assisted Will Service

ShiaJamaat.com offers a separate Assisted Will Service where a registered Shia Ithna-Asheri Alim helps you complete your will in person or remotely. That service is arranged separately. Contact ShiaJamaat.com to enquire.

10. Intellectual Property

The Islamic Will Generator — its design, code, and written content — belongs to ShiaJamaat.com. The will document generated for you is yours to use, modify, and keep freely for personal use.

11. Changes to This Service

ShiaJamaat.com may modify, update, or discontinue this Service at any time. These Terms may also be updated. Continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
